Meet your photographer and ultimate hype gal

Hi, I’m Emma Wilding, obsessive powerlifter, animal lover, and all round photography aficionado.

These about pages are always awkward to write, there’s nothing more uncomfortable that having to write about yourself and tell people who you are. But here we are, so I guess I ought to tell you who I am.

To start with, I love to lift. I’ve been lifting since September 2016, where a change of job forced me into the gym, and in a matter of months, I found myself stepping into the world of powerlifting after a fellow gym goer helped me with my abysmal squat form.

In 2022 I finally stepped on the platform for the first time, which unbelievably took me all the way to the AWPC world championships, where I bombed out on bench and had a wildly fun time on deadlifts.

What a way to really step into the sport, ay!

Outside of my lifting I’m a huge animal lover, blessed enough to have my own horse, Bull, and a tiny Chihuahua x Jack Russell called Bob. My animals are my sanctuary, they bring me peace in the crazy ever changing world, and I love training them to do all sorts of clever things, working with them in their own unique ways.

When it comes to my core personality, I’m exceptionally weird (Surely all us creative types are?), a very happy, positive soul with a lot of bouncy energy, as well as being an introvert who need a good few hours after every shoot avoiding people to recover - that’s what happens when you manage your energy like a toddler when you get excited.

I’m a great believer in loving ourselves for who we are, as we are. As someone who’s dealt with a lot of pain in my short life, who’s struggled with body image and self acceptance, I see my work as a change that the world needs. I want to represent real bodies of humans who love the gym, editing images in a way that means you stay looking like you in the finished image.

Images are powerful things, and I want to use this power for the betterment of my fellow humans.

The Pursuit Misson

Pursuit Images is here to be a wave of change in the fitness photography space.

There are so many photographers out there who do a superb job of producing incredible images of lean individuals, with an extremely high spec for their editing too.

But where are the photographers for those of us who don’t want to be diced and diet down, who don’t want that smoothed out, manicured finish, who want a shoot that represents us wholly in our strength and raw humanness?

That’s who Pursuit is here for.

I don’t want you to diet down for months for your shoot to arrive at shoot day hungry and miserable and not feeling your best self - (Although if that’s what you want, then I’m still more than happy to work with you, this is your choice!

I don’t want you to receive your finished images and feel like that isn’t actually you in the photos, finding your every day body won’t live up to those photos, no matter how hard you try.

I want your shoot experience to be a celebration of you, where you finish your shoot grinning from ear to ear, and feel a deep wave of pride when you see your final images because you really see the body you’ve built, all those hours you’ve poured into it at the gym, all the struggles you’ve faced against the iron and the demons inside, that’s the body you love and you can’t quite believe it’s you.

Photos are incredibly powerful, I want them to be a power for good.
