What’s new?
I’ve been incredibly quiet on the blogging and email front over the last few months - my last blog was in May, and the last email was the beginning of June! (If you’d like to sign up for the mailing list for offers over the coming months, click here - I promise I’ll be keeping up with it from now on!)
But that’s not without good reason, I’ve had a lot going on both within Pursuit, and in my own life.
I’ll start with the big thing outside of running Pursuit.
You all know I entered my first powerlifting competition (After 6 years of training) at the beginning of this year, and ended up winning, which gave me a qualification for the A/BPU British Championships in July. Well I poured my focus into the excitement of that, performed pretty damn well on game day, and came away with second place.
The second place gave me a qualification for the AWPC World Championships (I know, I still can’t really believe I’m going to a world championships either!), those championships are next week, I set foot on the platform for the 3rd time this year on the 8th September.
I’ve had the extreme privilege of being coached by the phenomenal Tess Cesnik, who has nearly killed me multiple times with her gruelling training, she’s targeted my weaknesses and pushed me to the limit, but the progress I’ve made under her has been mind blowing. She’s also been a huge support when my nervous system is fried, I’m physically drained, and all I keep doing is crying (I’ve become a tired, stroppy toddler - turns out it’s pretty normal for comp prep too).
If you ever want to become the strongest version of yourself, I cannot recommend her enough as a coach.
So that’s the big thing outside of work that’s been taking up my mental capacity.

What about within Pursuit?
Well, over the course of June I advertised for people to be involved in some portfolio shoots, for me to expand my skillset, get some fresh, more recent work to show people what they get when they book in with Pursuit, and network into the fitness space some more, so come July I had a pretty busy month of portfolio sessions (not forgetting I have another photography business for a different niche running alongside this).
I had a few more learning curves, because you never stop learning in business, and expanded my posing and lighting knowledge hugely; I’ve come away from June with an even better product to serve clients with than ever.
It was such a pleasure working with such a range of people in the strength and fitness space, from powerlifters, to bodybuilders, to gym enthusiasts. Each person was posed and lit differently to show off their individual physique and vibe, because every person is an individual and needs to be shot as such.
Alongside shooting, I’ve been helping Tess at Wolves Den prepare and advertise for the open day we had on the 7th August, which saw us running a mini strongman competition for both experienced and novice lifters.
I had the pleasure of shooting all the action of the day (And I got to have a go at pulling a truck - ridiculously good fun!). It was a huge success and everyone involved had a fantastic day - so much so that we’ll be running another strongman competition at the beginning of December, keep an eye on the Wolves Den instagram for further information on that.
August also saw me running yet another nude shoot day, a day focused not so much on making clients look like gym addicts, but more on the artistic elements of the athletic human body. These days are always so expansive, we have total creative liberty to build a series of images that fully honour the client and their journey with their bodies.
Without a doubt, the common theme for all of these has been personal empowerment and loving ones own skin, because a huge number of us who train regularly have experienced issues with body image and food, these shoots are designed to honour that struggle, to find a home and love in our bodies once more.
As well as all of these shoots, I’ve been putting together somewhat of a new service, to cater to those of you who use social media to market yourselves and your businesses.
Knowing what to post and having the images for those posts can be a huge headache, and I’m lucky because my job means I always have a library of images to choose from when posting, but most don’t have that luxury.
This is why, as of September 1st, I’ve launched the Pursuit Content Club, a subscription service that gives you multiple content shoots per year, at a hugely discounted rate, for a monthly fee, giving you a library of fresh content to post to your audience.
It takes some of the expense, and all of the stress out of content creation.
Also, as an introductory offer, I’m giving those of you who sign up this September 50% off your first month! Simply use the code “CLUB50” at the checkout when you sign up - check out the Content Club here!
So that’s where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to, it’s been a fantastic summer, so fantastic I can’t believe it’s actually all happened! I’m so excited for September now, I’ve got worlds, a pile of gym shoots, and god knows what else ahead of me. Here’s to an unbelievable final quarter!
