Going Bare

If you’ve been paying any attention to the Pursuit Instagram page, you will have seen a few things about the nude shoot days I’ve been running. But in case you’ve missed it, I’ll get you up to speed.
Back in February, I put a post out on my stories asking if anyone would be interested in a nude shoot day, a shoot day designed to shoot the muscular female form in a more artistic manner, not posing to focus specifically on muscle, but overall shape and form, to express emotion and encapsulate what it is to be a woman who lifts.
For me, it was also a way to really flex the creative muscle, shooting in a way that I haven’t before, doing something that scared me a little.

I had a fantastic response, which meant I ended up running two separate shoot days in a space here in Shrewsbury where I’m based. For the women who were attending, I asked them to bring a few things along, including some plain black or white underwear, suggesting nothing too bright to distract from the overall theme of the images, and an oversized shirt to wrap around, I also encouraged the women to bring any extra props and clothing, anything that they might like to include in their images, to express themselves further.
These days were all about having fun, expressing yourself, and doing something outside of your comfort zone.

Both days were a huge success, me and my clients had so so much fun creating together. (t was invigorating to create something outside of the usual gym shoot style, to delve deeper into my posing knowledge (I always say that I learn something new on every shoot, and this was no exception), shaping images outside of props other than a wooden chair, and giving these women a fantastic experience.
Every single woman who I photographed said how nervous they were before (I understand that, having also been photographed in the nude myself), but as soon as we got shooting said those nerves melted away, that they felt totally comfortable throughout, and afterwards said how good it had felt to do something outside of their comfort zone.

Upon delivering one set of images I even had a client say about one particular shot that “It was the first photo of herself since having kids that she didn’t hate her body”. I won’t deny that I nearly cried reading that, being able to create an image with that amount of weight behind it is beyond rewarding. The sense of purpose that creating work like that gives you is second to none.

After such a fantastic two days of shooting, and so much positive feedback, I know that I just have to run more of these. Future nude shoot days, they will be charged at £50 per person, to include one low resolution image, and more images can be purchased from your shoot at your viewing session. And for those interested in getting booked on to one of these days, please feel free to drop me an email via the contact form on here, or via DM on instagram. Also, I’ll be advertising future dates on my monthly email newsletters - for all future dates, as well as special offers, sign up here.
