Why choose Pursuit?

There’s hundreds of fitness photographers out there, with hundreds of different styles, pricing, and clientele that they work with. And I love the variety that that brings about, you’ve got a photographer for so many different niches. So with that, why should you choose Pursuit for your shoot? What makes me different to everyone else? What does my unique concoction of traits bring to a specific kind of person?

Firstly, there’s very few female fitness photographers out there, which puts me in a very unique position. I can understand my female clients in a way a male photographer can’t. I know what it’s like to move in the fitness space as a woman, the problems we face, the way we want to be seen, respected, and portrayed through images.
Men are often likely to view a woman through the male gaze (Which isn’t always a bad thing, it' just depends on what you want your end result to be). The way women see women is totally different, which means we’re going to be shooting from a very different perspective, and in that, I know I’ll serve the kind of client who wants to be seen that way.
Another advantage to being a woman shooting women, means there’s a certain level of mental and emotional safety created when we work together, it’s the woman in me, recognising the woman in you, a shared experience of the world that creates a feeling of comfort.

Following on from the way that I can shoot women in a totally different way that men will, I have a very particular style. I’m viewing the body as a work of art, and when we shoot, I sculpt that body with light in a unique way, carving out muscle whilst not creating such heavy contrast that the body looks harsh. I want to maintain my clients femininity. As a woman who lifts, I’ve never felt more feminine and beautiful than I do now, and the more muscular I get, the more of a woman I feel. Often photographers lose sight of the balance of softness when shooting muscular women, or fall too far into an over sexualised style of image.
In all the work I produce, there’s a kiss of sensuality, and an emphasis on strength, without losing the feeling of womanliness in the images. I aim for balance, to represent who you are in all of your glory.

And finally, I’m a perfectionist who obsessed with detail. It’s been both a blessing and a curse over the years, but when I’m shooting, it’s a superpower. I’m going to spot obscure details that need tweaking when creating an image, from adjusting a hip, to moving the hair in a different direction. This then plays a vital role in my editing process, where I’ll notice the smallest details which make the difference between good images, and great images.
When you pay for a shoot, you want to know that the photographer you’re working with is doing everything in their power to give you the very best, and at the core of my values is making sure I’m creating the highest quality of image available. I demand excellence from what I do, and always bring that to the table for my clients, all whilst giving them the best possible shoot experience.

When choosing your photographer, you need to make sure you’re choosing the person who’s right for you. Book a photographer based on what you want from your shoot, if you want a particular style, a particular experience.
I hope this short blog gives you a better idea of the unique things that I bring to my clients, and perhaps it’s got you thinking about booking in for a shoot if you like what you’ve read.
