Things I love about being a photographer
I’m so thankful that I get to do something so creative and fulfilling as being a photographer, it’s one hell of a career with all the variety that someone like me needs. There’s so so much I love about being a photographer, both big and small things, so this month I wanted to put together a fun list of the things I love about it.
The people!
I get to meet and work with people who I normally wouldn’t have the chance to. I’m actually quite shy and really struggle to introduce myself to people, but through my work I gain a lot of confidence to interact with lots of individuals. Whether it’s during a shoot where I’m able to really get to know clients, from their sense of humour, to their little quirks and fascinating life experiences - I adore hearing about people’s experiences, what makes them them, the things they’ve been through and what they’ve accomplished.
Or whether I end up talking to people because they’ve seen my work or through a client introducing me. It gives me the foothold I need to be able to actually have these wonderful interactions.Creative Freedom
I’ve been able to really explore and grow my creativity in this work, creativity is very much a muscle, and the more you use it, the easier it is to access and do amazing things with. In our modern lives, finding the time for creativity can be really hard, so the fact that I get to do it for a living means I get to exercise this muscle all the time, when I get with my clients that creativity blooms. I relax into the flow of a shoot, clients are always more than happy for me to try out different things, and with each shoot I learn something new - if you’ve ever worked with me, you’ll know how excited I get when I’m creating!
Making women feel good
There is nothing more rewarding than when a client sees their images and really sees themselves as a beautiful human. That moment when they suddenly realise how stunning they are have that incredibly special moment of self love.
The fact that I’m able to deliver that feeling over and over to clients? That’s my soul purpose in life, and it fills me with energy to do even more of it.
Tattoos
If you hadn’t guessed by looking at me, I really like tattoos. When I’m shooting, I get to have a really good look at the artwork on peoples bodies, but when I’m editing, zoomed in on images, I often spot the little artworks, or the quotes and text those chose to have tattooed on their bodies. I absolutely LOVE getting to see peoples tattoos like this, and it always makes me smile when I spot something that’s obviously quite sentimental.
I could add so much more to this list, but I’m trying to keep things short and sweet, so I hope you’ve enjoyed this little snippet of just a few of the things I love about my work.
